Include the Foundation
in your estate planning & we'll be "eternally" grateful
- You can make a difference for years to
come by including the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation
in your estate planning. A national study of wills and estates showed that
only 3 percent of Americans provide for a charitable bequest at death.
In Michigan, only 2.8 percent leave bequests, although 81.5% of Michigan
residents give annually to non-profits during life. Bequests can take a
number of forms, traditional or imaginative. Donors may give a specific
dollar amount, or a percentage of the estate. They may choose to leave
the "rest and residue" of the estate to charity, namely, what
is left after bequests to heirs. Even IRAs or retirement plans can be part
of a bequest, and may have certain tax advantages for the estate.

- Persons who wish to favor the WLAM Foundation
in their will or estate plan should see an attorney or other professional
who specializes in estate planning.
