Art By Attorneys
Fundraising Events & Awards Receptions
 Individual Contributions

Fundraising by the WLAM Foundation occurs in several ways: art projects, special events, and individual contributions.

Art By Attorneys

Continuing its successful theme of art-based fundraising, the WLAM Foundation in 1999 held a statewide search for art works by attorneys which could be reproduced as prints. Four works were chosen, presenting different styles, and they are available for contributions over $100. All are printed on acid-free paper, suitable for professional framing.

The works are:

All ten of the WLAMF’s Outstanding Women Law Students attended the event, as did the major contributors to the scholarship fund. Photos

In January of 2000, Foundation Board Members Nancy Glen hosted a special art sale at her home, raising money for the Foundation in a lovely and fun event. Photos

In addition, the Foundation continued its theme of “Art for Attorneys” at an art sale on March 2, 2000 hosted by the Detroit law office of Dykema Gossett. With the generous help of the firm and Peggy Costello, co-sponsorship by the WLAM Wayne Region, help of Nancy Glen and participation of three artists (including WLAM member Barbara Wynder), the Foundation raised approximately $1,000 at the March 2nd event. The event also served to launch the Attorney/Artist Print Fundraiser, as the prints were unveiled for the first time.

1998
Special events generally take place each spring, and often include an art theme. Special fundraising events are announced in statewide media, as well as the WLAM newsletter, Focus. In March of 1998, a special exhibition of Art by Attorneys took place at Detroit's Del Pryor Gallery, launched by a reception attended by many Detroit lawyers and judges. Attorney-artists participating in the exhibition were: Sharon C. Blackmon, Frederick M. Cross, Kay Hammond, Ann Hildebrandt, Sheri Mohmand, Ruthmarie Shea, Barbara Wynder, Brian Zubel, Lori Zurvalec, and Walter Clements. They were joined by professional artist Donald Calloway. Individual Contributions

Contributions from individuals are welcome throughout the year, and include a "dues check-off" option for WLAM members who use the association's membership form.

WLAM members also may make a special contribution in honor of a person or event, such as a promotion, birth, or special accomplishment. Use of the special contribution form ensures that the contribution is acknowledged in the statewide WLAM newsletter.

Individual contributors may qualify as a Foundation "Angel" by earmarking a larger contribution in honor of a special case. Lawyers who win a case involving women's issues may use the Angel form to publicize the issue throughout the state. Be sure to read about our current "Foundation Angels."

Persons wishing to incorporate the Foundation in their estate planning may use our Legacy form to ensure that their gift supports Foundation projects.
