Founded in 1983, the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation has as its primary mission:
. . . promotion of programs which enhance civic education through law, and promotion of scholarships and opportunities for women at primary, secondary, college and law school levels.
The Board of Directors of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation:
. . . is a dedicated group of volunteers who serve three-year terms and receive no compensation. Board membership is drawn from throughout Michigan and from different law practice areas, and several members are former presidents of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan. Terms run from May through April, annually, and board members are appointed by the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Board of Directors. The 2009-2010 Foundation Board is composed of these dedicated women:

The Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation is organized as a:
501(c) (3) non-profit organization, holding a charitable solicitation license from the State of Michigan. Contributions to the WLAM Foundation are therefore tax-deductible beyond the value of any goods received.
The Women Lawyers Association of Michigan:
. . . was founded in 1919 for the purposes of "securing the rights of women in society, advancing the interests of women members of the legal profession, promoting improvements in the administration of justice, promoting equality and social justice for all people, improving relations between the legal profession and the public and encouraging the continued legal education of lawyers."
WLAM is governed by a statewide Board of Directors composed of members-at-large and representatives from its regional chapters.
